Mark Ruffalo condemns Donald Trump after fatal ICE killing

Mark Ruffalo slams Donald Trump as 'worst human being' on Golden Globes red carpet

Hollywood actor Mark Ruffalo has branded Donald Trump the “worst human being” during a fiery red-carpet interview ahead of the Golden Globe Awards, as outrage grows over the fatal shooting of a US citizen by an ICE agent.

Ruffalo was among a number of high-profile actors who used the awards ceremony in Los Angeles to protest against the Trump administration’s immigration policies. He wore buttons reading “BE GOOD” and “ICE OUT”, which he said were in memory of Renee Nicole Good, the 37-year-old woman shot dead by an Immigration and Customs Enforcement agent in Minneapolis last week.

🎬 ‘The worst human being’

Speaking to reporters on the red carpet, Ruffalo did not hold back when asked about Trump and the political climate in the United States.

“This man is the worst human being we’ve ever put in power,” he said. “What we’re seeing now is cruelty being normalised, and people are dying because of it.”

The actor added that remaining silent was no longer an option, arguing that public figures had a responsibility to speak out when state power was being used in ways that harm ordinary people.

🏆 Protest spreads across the Golden Globes

Ruffalo was nominated for Best Performance by a Male Actor in a Television Series – Drama for his role in HBO Max thriller Task. He was not alone in using the night to send a political message.

Other attendees who displayed protest symbols or made public statements included Ariana Grande, Jean Smart and Wanda Sykes, as anger continues to mount within the entertainment industry over immigration enforcement tactics and civil liberties.

🚔 ICE shooting sparks nationwide outrage

The protest followed the fatal shooting of Renee Nicole Good during an ICE operation in Minneapolis. The Department of Homeland Security claimed Good had “weaponised her vehicle” and attempted to run over an officer, prompting the agent to fire what were described as “defensive shots”.

However, local authorities and civil rights advocates have disputed that account. Videos circulating online appear to show Good slowly attempting to drive away as officers surrounded her car, before a shot was fired through the windscreen. Additional footage suggests ICE agents prevented a doctor from immediately treating her at the scene.

Good later died in hospital from a gunshot wound to the head.

🗣️ Trump defends agent and blames ‘radical left’

Trump released a lengthy statement defending the ICE agent involved and blaming left-wing activists for the unrest that followed.

“I have just viewed the clip of the event which took place in Minneapolis, Minnesota. It is a horrible thing to watch,” Trump said. “The woman driving the car was very disorderly, obstructing and resisting, who then violently, willfully, and viciously ran over the ICE Officer, who seems to have shot her in self-defence.”

He went on to claim that protests were being driven by what he called a “Radical Left Movement of Violence and Hate”, adding: “They are just trying to do the job of MAKING AMERICA SAFE.”

Minneapolis officials pushed back on the president’s characterisation, rejecting claims that the incident amounted to domestic terrorism and confirming that state and federal investigations are ongoing.

🌆 Protests erupt across the US

Demonstrations against ICE operations and the killing of Good have since spread to cities including New York, Boston and Minneapolis, with protesters demanding accountability and an end to aggressive immigration enforcement tactics.

Ruffalo echoed those demands, saying: “This isn’t about politics anymore. It’s about humanity. If we don’t draw a line now, this becomes who we are.”
