Zack Polanski’s Greens have ‘commanding lead’ among young people, poll shows

Young voters appear to be shifting strongly towards the Green Party, with new polling showing Zack Polanski’s Greens opening up a clear lead among 18 to 25 year olds.

🌱 Young voters move away from Labour

According to ITV’s Youth Tracker poll, conducted by Savanta, the Greens now sit at 32 percent among young voters. Labour trails seven points behind at 25 percent, marking a sharp fall from the party’s 43 percent support in March.

Reform UK ranks third with 20 percent, undermining claims from some supporters that the party is dominant with younger generations.

📊 Greens double their youth support

The Greens have doubled their support among 18 to 25 year olds since March, rising from 16 percent. ITV’s political editor Robert Peston shared the findings on X, saying the Greens now have a “commanding lead” among young people.

The poll included 1,005 participants aged 18 to 25 from across the UK.

📉 Labour’s worrying slide

Labour’s decline among young people will raise alarm bells inside the party. The drop mirrors wider national polling falls, with frustration growing over issues such as migration, tax rises, and concerns around digital IDs.

For a government elected on a platform of change, the loss of younger voters – a group crucial to Labour’s 2024 landslide – is particularly significant.

📈 Rising momentum across the country

The strong youth polling comes as the Greens climb nationally too. A Find Out Now survey last week put the Greens on 18 percent, ahead of Labour on 15 percent and close to the Conservatives on 16 percent.

Reform UK topped that poll at 33 percent, with the Liberal Democrats on 11 percent.

Some data even suggests the Greens could now be leading among all voters under 50.

🔍 Why young voters are drifting

Polanski’s leadership has boosted the party’s profile, with sharper messaging on housing, inequality, and environmental issues. Many young people also feel let down by traditional parties and are increasingly drawn to alternatives.
